ECP Therapy (External Counterpulsation)
ECP therapy is an outpatient treatment for patients suffering from symptoms of coronary artery disease. Patients who experience angina, shortness of breath, or weakness/fatigue as a result of coronary artery disease may see great benefit from ECP therapy.
Treatments are given for one hour each day, five days a week, for a total of 7 weeks or 35 hours. During the treatment, patients lay on the treatment table with large, blood pressure-like cuffs wrapped around the lower extremities. These cuffs inflate and deflate at specific times based on the patient's cardiac cycle. A special sensor is applied to the finger which will check oxygen levels in your blood and monitors the pressure waves created by the cuff inflation and deflation.
